This online course meets the requirements of Table II/4 of the STCW Code, Specification of Minimum Standard of Competence for Ratings Forming Part of a Navigational Watch (RFPNW). The online course covers watchkeeping, pollution prevention, lookout procedures and helmsmanship.
The course will also satisfy 4 of the 6 months minimum sea-time requirements for certification as a Rating Forming Part of a Navigation Watch.
RFPNW (II/4) Certification Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Sea-time of 6 months or pre-sea training + 2 months sea-time
Assessments:
- The written exam can be taken online through HALO° Exams. You will receive 3 attempts for your exam. If you fail all 3 attempts, you must pay a retake fee of $50.00.
- The mandatory assessments supplied in the course must be completed and signed off by an STCW licensed Master/Mate onboard the vessel using the approved Training Record Book. This fully online course can be taken at your own pace. Recommended equipment outside of any required materials identified in the course: computer and web camera.
