This online course meets the mandatory minimum requirements for knowledge, understanding and proficiency in table A-III/4 STCW Code for the function Marine Engineering at the Support Level.

This online course is based on a 30 hour in-person course.

This online courses meets the mandatory minimum requirements for knowledge, understanding and proficiency in table A-III/4 STCW Code for the function Marine Engineering at the Support Level.
The online course covers the background knowledge and practical work to support:
- contributing to a safe engineering watch;
- communicating with the officer of the watch
- using internal communication systems;
The course will also satisfy 4 of the 6 months minimum sea-time requirements for certification as a Rating Forming Part of an Engineering Watch.
Assessments
Written Examination
This course consists of one written exam: Rating Forming Part of an Engineering Watch (RFPEW). This exam contains 20 questions and requires a 70% passing score. The written exam can be taken online through HALO° Exams. You will receive 3 attempts for your exam. If you fail all 3 attempts, you must pay a retake fee of $50.00.
Practical Assessment

The mandatory assessments supplied in the course must be completed and signed off by an STCW licensed Master/Mate onboard a vessel of 500 Gross Tons or more using the approved Training Record Book.
