The Medical Care PIC Blended Course satisfies the training for mariners who provide medical care to the sick and injured while they remain on board ship.

(This STCW course is approved by the U.S. Coast Guard and the Dominica Maritime Administration.)

Upon successful completion of this course, you will obtain the competence to provide medical care to the sick and injured while they are on board and to participate in coordinated schemes for medical assistance to ships.

Duration
This online course is based on a 48 hour in-person course.

USCG
Any applicant who has successfully completed your Medical Care Person in Charge (Blended)(NOREMI-307) course will satisfy:

  • The required training for Medical Care Person in Charge requirements of 46 CFR 12.621(a)(1); AND
  • The Standards of Competence of Table A-VI/4-2 of the STCW Code required by 46 CFR 12.621(a)(2) demonstrated by completing the tasks outlined in NVIC 02-04


DOMINICA
Any applicant who has successfully completed your Medical Care Person in Charge (Blended)(NOREMI-307) course will satisfy:

  • The Standards of Competence of Table A-VI/4-2 of the STCW Code required by 46 CFR 12.621(a)(2) demonstrated by completing the tasks outlined in NVIC 02-04

Assessments

Written Examination
This course consists of one written exam – Medical Care PIC. The exam contains 50 questions and requires a 70% passing score. The written exam can be taken online through HALO° Exams. You will receive 3 attempts for your exam. If you fail all 3 attempts, you must pay a retake fee of $50.00.
