The Master 200 Gross Tons, Near Coastal Upgrade from Master 100 Gross Tons, Near Coastal course meets the required subject matter In Lieu of Coast Guard Examination under 46 CFR 11.910 Table 2.

The course covers the following topics required for a Master 200 gross ton license: Coastal Navigation, Advanced Navigation Topics, Navigation Rules, Watchstanding, Shiphandling, Maritime Law, Pollution, Marlinspike Seamanship and Safety.

This course covers the required theory, assessments and examinations to upgrade from a Master 100 gross tons license to Master 200 gross tons license, near coastal. The course is approved in lieu of examination by the U.S. Coast Guard. Students enrolling in this course should currently hold their Master 100 gross ton license or should have completed an approved Master 100 gross tons course.

This online course is based on a 24 hour in-person course.

Any applicant who has successfully completed your Upgrade Master 100 Tons to Master 200 Tons (Near Coastal) (NOREMI -526) course and presents your Certificate of Training within one year of the completion of training, will satisfy the examination requirements for upgrade of a merchant mariner endorsement from Master not more than 100 gross registered tons (or self-propelled vessels of less than 100 gross registered tons) Upon Near Coastal, or Great Lakes & Inland, or Inland Waters to Master or Mate of self-propelled vessels of less than 200 gross tons Upon Near Coastal, or Great Lakes & Inland, or Inland Waters. The course completion certificate issued upon successful completion of this course is valid for one application which results in the issuance of an endorsement(s) and may not be used for future application transactions.

Assessments

Written Examination
This course consists of one written exam: Upgrade Master 100 Gross Tons to Master 200 Gross Tons. This exam contains 50 questions and requires a 70% passing score. The written exam can be taken online through HALO° Exams. You will receive 3 attempts for your exam. If you fail all 3 attempts, you must pay a retake fee of $50.00.
