Any applicant who successfully completes your Cargo Handling & Stowage (Blended) (NOREMI-100) course will satisfy:

  • The Cargo Handling and Stowage training requirements of 46 CFR 11.309(a)(4)(x) for an STCW endorsement as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OICNW) for vessels of 500 GT (ITC) or more (Operational Level); AND
  • The Cargo Handling and Stowage standards of competence required by 46 CFR 11.309(a)(3) and 11.319(a)(3); STCW Code Section A-II/1 and Table A-II/1, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from:   NVIC 12-14(Ch-7) Tasks 10.2, 10.3.A, 11.1, 11.2, 11.4.A, 11.5, 11.6, and 11.7;  AND    NVIC 02-18(Ch-5) Tasks 10.2.A, 10.3.A, 11.1.A, 11.2.A, 11.4.A, 11.5.A, and 11.6.A; AND
  • The Cargo Handling and Stowage standards of competence required by 46 CFR 11.317(a)(2) and 11.321(a)(2); STCW Code Section A-II/3 and Table A-II/3, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 13-14(Ch-5) Tasks 6.1.A and 6.1.B.

DOMINICA
The Cargo Handling & Stowage (Blended) course satisfies the Cargo Handling and Stowage training requirements for an STCW endorsement as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on vessels of 500 or more gross tonnage (ITC) – A-II/1; AND Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on vessels less than 500 GT – A-II/1; AND Masters and OICNW on Vessels of less than 500 GT limited to Near Coastal waters (A-II/3).

Requirements

Suggested Pre-Requisite
Ideally, those wishing to enter this course should have sufficient sea time and experience to qualify for an Officer in Charge of a Navigation Watch endorsement. The completion of a Ship Stability course prior to enrolling in the Cargo Handling and Stowage course would also be helpful.

Assessments

Written Examination
Upon completion of the course content on NEMO, students will be directed to HALO° Exams, where they will complete the 50 question proctored multiple choice exam (minimum score of 70% required) and a proctored written scenario-based assessment. More information is provided in the course. You will receive 3 attempts for each exam. If you fail all 3 attempts, you must pay a retake fee of $50 and will require re-enrollment in all or part of the course.
