This online course provides students with knowledge, proficiency and understanding of the characteristics of various weather systems, reporting procedures, and recording systems.

Topics include: wind and pressure, currents, global winds, humidity, clouds, fog and sea state, weather reporting and interpreting maps.
Duration
This online course is based on a 40 hour in-person course.

Any applicant who has successfully completed your Meteorology (Operational Level) (Blended) (NOREMI-945) course will satisfy:
- The Meteorology training requirements of 46 CFR 11.309(a)(4)(xiii); AND
- The Meteorology standards of competence required by 46 CFR 11.309(a) (3), 11.319(a)(3), and 11.321(a)(2); AND
- The Meteorology standards of competence required by STCW Code Section A-II/1 and Table A-II/1, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 12-14 (Ch-2) Tasks 1.9, 1.10, and 1.11; and NVIC 02-18 Tasks 1.9.A, 1.9.B, 1.10.A, 1.10.B, 1.10.C, 1.10.D, 1.10.E, 1.10.F, and 1.10.G; AND,
- The Meteorology standards of competence required by STCW Code Section A-II/3 and Table A-II/3, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 13-14 (Ch-1) Tasks 1.11.A, 1.12.A, and 1.13.A.
Dominica
This online course meets the Meteorology training requirements of A-II/1 of the STCW Code, as amended 2010, as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on vessels of 500 or more gross tonnage. The course provides students with the knowledge, proficiency and understanding of the characteristics of various weather systems, reporting procedures and recording systems. This course satisfies the Basic Meteorology Training of STCW A-II/1 for an Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch.
Assessments
Written Examination
This course consists of one written exam – Meteorology. The exam contains 30 questions and requires a 70% passing score. The written exam can be taken online through HALO° Exams. You will receive 3 attempts for your exam. If you fail all 3 attempts, you must pay a retake fee of $50.00.
