USCG Approval:
This USCG approved online course meets the Watchkeeping and SMCP training requirements of 46 CFR 11.309(a)(4)(ix) for an STCW endorsement as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on vessels of 500 or more gross tonnage (ITC) and 46 CFR 11.319(a)(4)(iii) for an STCW endorsement as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on vessels of less than 500 gross tonnage (ITC); AND, the relevant practical assessments from NVIC 12-14 (Ch-2) Guidelines On Qualifications For Officer In Charge Of A Navigational Watch on Vessels of 500 GT or More; NVIC 02-18 Guidelines on Qualifications for Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on Vessels less than 500 GT; AND NVIC 13-14 (CH-2) Guidelines on Qualifications for Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on Vessels of less than 500 GT.

The course includes online content and online examination through HALO Exam Monitoring System, but requires a 1 day, on-site simulator session to complete the required STCW practical assessments. Please contact our Admissions Department if you have any questions.

Prerequisites: completion of Radar, ARPA courses and experience with bridge equipment

  • NVIC 12-14 (Ch-2) Guidelines On Qualifications For Officer In Charge Of A Navigational Watch on Vessels of 500 GT or More: 2.1.A-2.1.G, 2.2A – 2.2E, 2.4A. 2.5A, 2.6A, 7.1, 12.1A and 12.2A; AND
  • NVIC 13-14 for Master or Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OICNW) of Vessels of Less Than 500 GT Limited to Near-Coastal Waters tasks 2.1A – 2.1G, 2.2A – 2.2F, 2.4A. 2.5A, 2.6A , 7.1A, 7.2A; AND
  • NVIC 02-18 for Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OICNW) of Vessels of Less Than 500 GT Tasks 2.1A – 2.1 G, 2.2A – 2.2E, 2.4A, 2.5A, 2.6A, 7.1, 12.1A & 12.2A.
